We headed to the Loft Cafe amidst the hustle and bustle of Chinatown this evening. Loft Cafe belongs to the group of cafes which menu's pictures are less appetizing than their actual presentation. Before ordering, I had absolutely no idea of their portion sizes, but when the food came (took quite a while considering that there were little customers) i was shocked, the food came at twice the amount of what I had pictured in my mind.
Nevertheless, we managed to finish all the food. We ordered their grilled chicken chop with chips, Shibuya Toast and a full English Breakfast. Their menu wasn't very extensive to be honest, but we made do. The Shibuya Toast is essentially a buttered toasted thick toast topped with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, berry compotes and fresh cream. Sinful, but good.
Their English Breakfast was nothing special, just the usual mushrooms, bangers, pancakes, eggs and grilled tomato. The eggs which we chose scrambled, wasn't very appealing. It seemed like liquid eggs and were overcooked chunks akin to mickey dees.
Their chicken chop? Well, the chips were hot off the fryer which was great, thick and chunky.
A great place to hang out with your friends and chill with a cuppa coffee, nothing very exceptional but enough to satisfy.
The Loft is one of the most cosy cafes I have ever been to. The setting is sweet and pretty, perfect for girls catch-up time or a casual date with your boyfriend. Since the place is pretty small, the service is quick. They are extremely friendly and give you suggestions on what you may like to order. They even take in suggestions very well.
On my visit there, I had the Carbonara pasta and I enjoyed it very much. But the creaminess got overwhelming halfway through my meal. My boyfriend had the burger set which came with fries and it was even better. Although their menu is pretty limited and there isn't much of a choice, their food is yummy! Their serving portions are huge and I was so full I had no space for dessert.
I would definitely return just to try their desserts which looked so tempting the other day.
The cafe is definitely one of my favorite places to hang out and have my breakfast over at the loft on the weekends. The loft is a three-stores building with the third level open for events or activities. The second level is furnished with grey sofas and white-washed wooden tables and chairs. There is also a computer corner for the customers to surf the net.
The staff there are kind and polite. Personally, the food served there is just right and perfect for me. What I love bet is the thik, crispy and juicy fries there. They also sell lovely pastries and delicious pancakes etc. Though the food can be a little pricey, I feel that it is worth it as you're paying for the comfort and ambience and excellent quality food there.
All excited for a nice breakfast on a Sat morning, my parents and I headed down the The Loft to check it out as recommended by my friend. It is located on the 2nd level of a corner shop in Chinatown, pretty easy to spot as there is a sign there.
When we got up, there was only one staff doing the serving and he took a while before he showed us to the seats. He took even longer to get us the menus as he was busy serving other tables. I was pretty annoyed at that point already. After finally taking our orders, we waited for about 15mins and not even our beverages was served. After my parents food came, he came back with my order and informed me that he changed my order to pancakes as they ran out of waffles before walking off. He did not wait for me to respond at all..it took alot out of me to stop myself from launching into a tirade. How could he assume that I would want pancakes, if he had told me about this shortage I would have ordered something else.
The food was average.
Other than the terrible service, the ambience is nice for a lazy brunch or to read a book. They even have a shelf of novels for you to read. If you have children, there is a small corner of toys and children's books to occupy their time.
Tucked away on the second floor of a shop house along south bridge road is The Loft Café. It’s cosy enough for hanging out with friends on a lazy afternoon but also has a menu that caters for proper meals.
They serve a wide variety of beverages and mains include all-day breakfast, pancakes, waffles, pizza and western food. The breakfast platter is a must-have with everything you could ask for breakfast – pancakes, yogurt and muesli, bacon, sausage, mushrooms, eggs and greens – and all done to perfection. The buttermilk pancakes are worth mentioning as they are simply fluffy, light and delicious.
The waffle and pizza on the other hand, though flavourful, came in rather small portions for their price. Overall, it’s not too expensive and good for a dining experience away from the usual bustle of malls and crowded restaurants.
Tucked away in a little bend along South Bridge Road, The Loft Cafe is a quaint shophouse specializing in pancakes and waffles. The ambience is good, making you feel cozy with their soft light and comfy sofas. The staff are friendly too! (Always a plus, don't you think?)
My friends and I got their southern breakfast platter, since they offer all-day breakfast sets, a bacon savoury waffle as well as a mushroom pizza. Each dish tasted really delicious although I have to say that their portions are a little on the small side, making you feel that the meal was pricey overall.
Their strategic location in the heart of Chinatown allows you to take a pleasurable walk after the meal, exploring Chinatown food street or browsing the many trinkets available.
