Suria is called sun in English. Unfortunately, it didn't seem to portray a sunny image currently. The viewer rates seemed to be plummeting. The scripts for the shows lingered near the word boredom. There was a myriad of actors and actresses under Suria's belt. However, it seemed like they weren't utilised properly. They recruited several new actors or actresses who lacked the experience in this filming industry. Their acting was watchable, sometimes even applaudable. There are times when I thought they sounded akin to robots with fullstops in between each word.
There wasn't any spark in the shows. Suria conducted a beauty pageant show recently. The judges had records that were rather impressive. Unfortunately, the same couldn't be said for the questions that they lashed out to the contestants. It was a little queer. It sounded like they were filling in time, making an empty void full. They sounded like they were constructing mountains out of mole hills.
Additionally, Suria should attempt broadening their venues for music shows or award ceremonies. It became rather mundane seeing the same venue regularly like Expo and the venue at Caldecott Hill. The stage wasn't even uniquely constructed. In fact, it seemed rather under-decorated. How now brown cow can Suria reap more views when there isn't anything that catches the eyes?
I can't remember the last time I watched anything on Suria, it had been too long. And the last time I watched anything there was a cook show.
Most of the programmes on Suria are imported. We have a dearth of local Malay productions. Most of the programmes are entertainment based or dramas, some really bad ones. It's only once on a very blue moon that you come across a gem of a drama.
If there is going to be a local drama production, they tend to focus on social problems and dilemmas faced by the Malay community. I just wish that something more positive could be thrust into the forefront.
