His donation stands today in the form of the Tan Tock Seng Hospital. Till today, his generousity resonates within the hubbub of the hospital where patients reside and go to. His kindness is continously passed down from the patience that is shown by the nurses,

Kindness, no matter how small it may be, can go a long way - and in this case of Tan Tock Seng Hospital, he was a man who thought about the causes and needs of many, and his kindness, till today, is being passed on.

Who says Singaporeans need to learn kindness? We just need to pass it on from the people we receive it from.

Although mainly famous for contributing money to build a hospital, Tan Tock Seng was more than that. I've read detailed accounts of him and I find myself feeling a tad bit unfortunate not have not known him.

A tombstone at the old cemetery on Fort Canning was erected by Tan Tock Seng for his friend, Horrocks Whitehead. I find this an entirely noble act on his part, back in the colour-dividing colonial days. He was also skillful at settling feuds among the Chinese, a trait which led to him becoming a community leader among the Chinese.

He was also the first Asian to be made a Justice of the Peace by the British, a feat which I fell pays testament to his influence and liking amongst the community.
